The FLL Core Values award was a new award created by FIRST in 2008 to recognize teams that went beyond to demonstrate the core values. These teams are nominated on the state level by other teams, then nominations go to a national committee to review the applications. This committee does not know any teams so it a great honor to be selected among hundreds of nominations. Ten to twelve teams selected by this process will be at the Georgia Dome for World.
First of all, it was a great honor to be selected in the 2007-2008 Power Puzzle among all of those teams by a committee we didn't even know. Second, because it was a new thing and no-one knew what it's like, we wanted to represent our award and FIRST as well as possible. So at the Georgia Dome, we had fun, met other teams, and demonstrated teamwork and gracious professionalism. Not only are we did we show these values, we also wanted to also encourage them, by giving out rewards to anyone we saw demonstrating these values.
